Wish I Knew

Blair looked over at the two men standing off to the side, wondering if they were talking about him. For once, he wished he had Jim's Sentinel hearing just so he could hear what they were saying about him. Blair leaned back on the gurney, exhausted from the kidnapping, the sedative, and the… He stopped his mind from continuing. He didn't want to think about it. If Jim hadn't arrived when he did…

Blair knew he was lucky to be alive. The obsessed young man had grabbed him from the university, just minutes before Jim was to arrive to take him to lunch. Blair knew the man who had grabbed him. It had been a former student who had an unhealthy attraction towards Blair. Blair didn't realize it until he started spurning the young man and got unwelcome attention from him.

Blair had told Jim about the young man and Jim advised Blair to be extra vigilant and watch himself on campus. Blair had been, up until he walked into his office, not realizing Peter was there, waiting for him. Peter was bigger than Blair and quickly subdued him, taking him from his office and placing him in his car not far away from the entrance. He had given Blair a sedative in a syringe; at least it had made him sleepy shortly after it was administered.

Jim had noticed Peter loading Blair into the car several blocks away. As he neared Hargrove Hall, Peter took off and Jim gave pursuit, calling in for back-up. All the time, he worried about Blair as he was able to hear the slow heartbeat and the moans from his lover.

Jim cut Peter off a couple of blocks later, jumping from his truck to confront the kidnapper. He pulled Peter from his car, slamming him up against the hood. Jim growled, irritated that this scum bag would have the audacity to grab his lover and to try to hurt him.

Luckily, backup had arrived before Jim did any permanent damage to Peter and he was taken in by the uniformed officers there. Jim wanted to go to Blair, but Simon arrived at that time and pulled Jim off to the side. The paramedics were attending to Blair, but Blair kept his eye on Jim and Simon. And Jim kept stealing glances in Blair's direction. Blair knew what Jim was doing. He was cataloging Blair's vital signs to make sure he was okay. Blair didn't mind it.

"I think we can let you go, Blair," the paramedic announced finally. "Just make sure you go home and get some rest. That sedative needs to work its way out of your system."

"Thanks, guys." Blair sat up straighter and got to his feet with a hand from the paramedics. He weaved his way over to Jim and Simon.

"You can stop talking about me, guys. They said I can go home. Can Jim take me, Simon?" Blair directed his best puppy-dog eyes in Simon's direction.

Simon looked over at Jim. "Take him home, Jim. I'm glad you're okay, Sandburg."

Jim placed his arm around Blair's midsection and directed him towards the truck, leaning in close. He whispered in Blair's ear. "I love you, baby. I'm going to spoil you when we get home."

Blair smiled. "Just as long as you don't mind if I go off to sleep."

"It's fine. I'm just so glad you're okay."

"I'm fine, Jim. You saved me. Thank you again."
