Jim heard Blair coming home. It had been a late night, Blair out with several old friends from his Rainier University days. Blair had lost his appeal to be reinstated back into the university just last week. He had admitted defeat to Jim and told him he was going to look for a *real* job. Jim had mentioned something to Blair about returning to the police department, but Blair told Jim he just couldn't do it. Jim didn't quite understand why Blair felt that way, but he respected his wish not to be associated with the police department.

Jim could smell the alcohol well before Blair made it up to the third floor. Jim was doubly grateful that Blair didn't drive to meet up with his friends. It could have resulted in a disastrous ending. Jim locked in his hearing into the young man and could hear mumbling interspersed with humming. Every once in a while, Jim heard a giggle. A giggly Blair Sandburg? Jim knew when Blair had a little too much to drink, that he became a happy drunk, which was preferable to one who was depressed or belligerent.

Jim worried that Blair wouldn't be able to navigate his way up to the third floor apartment, so he left and went to meet Blair. He encountered Blair on the second floor landing, just standing there, as if he were lost. Jim moved to Blair's side and gently took Blair's arm, directing him towards the last two flights of stairs to the third floor.

Blair looked up at Jim, a smile on his face. "Hey, Ji-im…" He weaved from side to side, but Jim kept him upright. "Mike sa-id I need-ed to get laid and he of-fered." A short giggle escaped Blair's throat.

"He was going to get you a woman to have sex with?" Jim tried steering Blair towards the stairs.

"Nah, sil-ly! He was going to."

Jim frowned and then recognition dawned. 'Shit! Sandburg's…' Jim shook his head. It couldn't be true! "Let's get you upstairs, Chief. We don't need to be having this conversation on the landing between floors."

"Could… you?" Blair still had that smile on his face.

Jim wondered what Blair was talking about now. "Could I what, Chief?"

"Have… sex… with… me?" Blair was negotiating the steps as Jim led him upstairs.

Suddenly, Jim stopped and Blair almost toppled over. Only Jim's firm hold around Blair's waist kept the young man upright. "Let's get upstairs and inside the loft. We'll discuss it more there."

But Blair refused to move, planting his feet halfway up the flight of stairs. He got up on the tips of his toes to give Jim a kiss on his right cheek. Jim felt Blair's warm breath on his neck as Blair leaned in close.

Jim practically dragged Blair up the remaining stairs and down the hallway to #307, unlocking the door and pulling Blair inside. He closed the door, pressing Blair against it and leaned in to kiss Blair. The intoxicating smell of alcohol permeated the kiss, but Jim didn't mind.

Blair opened his eyes wide, staring at Jim. "Can… you… have… sex… with… me?" He enunciated every word carefully.

"Not tonight, Chief. Not with you drunk as a skunk. We need to talk when you're sober and not giggling like a crazed loon."

That analogy made Blair giggly again and he fell forward into Jim's waiting arms. He raised his head to look at Jim. "I love you."

"Well, I think the feeling is mutual, Blair. I love you, too." Jim led Blair over to the couch and sat down with Blair on his lap. Blair snuggled in close near Jim's ear and gave Jim kisses and licks there.

It was a short time later when Blair drifted off asleep and Jim gently rolled Blair onto the couch, got to his feet, then picked Blair up to carry him upstairs to his bedroom. Well, if everything went as planned, it would soon be their bedroom.

Glad you enjoyed the story. Yeah, Blair is cute when he's drunk :) There's a lot of Sentinel slash out there.
